Guests who approach your home are first greeted not by you, but by your exterior entry area.  Enhance your curb appeal by making your home look exciting and inviting. Here are a few ideas if you need to spruce up your Ottawa door

Walkway

As people approach from the street or the driveway, be sure they have plenty of room.  The path should be at least three or four feet wide so that two people can walk together comfortably.  The surface can be made from any number of surfaces like concrete slabs, pavestones, or even gravel. Stepping stones are a nice touch if you have a cottage type home.  There are a number of patterns that bricks can be set into, or you can combine bricks and stones for a unique combination that will catch anyone’s eyes.

Doors

End the walk with a pop of color that is your door.  There are quite a number of shades and window styles to choose from.  Pick a complementary hue or a contrast. Hang a wreath suitable for the season.  Switch it out as often as you like, especially if you have frequent guests. There are also hangings that reflect your taste in sports or pets.

Check the Plants

During the growing season, plants can overtake the path or entry area.  Be sure that they are reined in or trimmed back as necessary. Be especially aware of anything that is thorny or prickly like rose bushes that can catch on your guests’ clothing.

Show your Personality

Generally the interior and exterior of the home are in the same architectural style.  Add some appropriate seating if there is room. Keep the colors in harmony with each other.  Repeating design elements like custom windows, paint colors, and more.
